Practice Groups and Schedule

All team practices and home meets are held at the Wissahickon Middle School Pool.

PreTeam
Description:

The beginning program at WCAC is an instructional program, however it is not private swim lessons. The group will work on refining basic swimming skills though these swimmers must have a baseline skill set to swim numerous laps in the half-hour practice. The Pre-Team swimmers are encouraged to practice once or twice a week.

Practice Times:
Monday & Wednesday or Thursdays (Depending on which group your swimmer is placed) 6:00-6:45pm

Stingrays
Description:

The majority of time is spent working on refining stroke mechanics. These swimmers have started to exhibit good swimming skills and will be introduced to some training skills and processes. Swimmers are encouraged to attend two to three practices per week.

Monday, Wednesday, Thursdays 6:00-6:45pm

Age Group Blue
Description:
These swimmers have started to exhibit good swimming skills. They spend their time equally between stroke technique and training skills and processes. These swimmers are beginning to become well versed in technique and strategy. Swimmers are encouraged to attend two to three practices per week.

Monday, Wednesday & Thursdays 6:45-7:45pm; Saturday 10am-11am
Friday Clinics  6:00-7:00

Age Group Gold
Description:

The higher end of our age-group program continues the progression as swimmers move forward and increase the volume and intensity of their daily training. Stroke refinement continues and a greater focus is placed on race strategy and preparation. Athletes in this group are setting higher goals for themselves and are working with their coach to determine "what it takes" to achieve those goals. Swimmers are encouraged to attend three to four practices per week.

Monday, Wednesday & Thursdays 6:45-8:00pm
Tuesdays 6:00-7:15pm; Saturday 10am-11:15am
Friday Clinics  6:00-7:00pm


Senior Blue
Description:

This Group is allotted more time and continues the progression as swimmers move forward and increase the volume and intensity of their daily training. Stroke refinement continues and a greater focus is placed on race strategy and preparation. There is an increase in yardage to prepare the swimmers for the workload given in the next group (Senior Gold). Dry land training begins and athletes are exposed to low-impact core-strength training, stretching and cardio workouts through this program. Swimmers are encouraged to attend four to five practices per week.

Tuesdays 6:00-7:30pm; Saturday 10am-10:30am dryland, Swimming 10:30-Noon

Senior Gold

Description:
The Senior Gold consists of Middle School, High School and other swimmers that exhibit a high level of swimming and workout ability. These swimmers are expected to be mature, dedicated, responsible, and dependable. Athletes in this group are training at higher volumes and paces with more focus on endurance-based outcomes in their performance. Goal setting is an important part of this group, as these swimmers are looking to continually progress. Swimmers are encouraged to attend four to five practices per week.
